May update

Finally got the weekender enclosed over the weekend and cooked some lovely scones in the camp oven which are turning out really well! Wal is getting building burn out with lots more ahead of him.

We went chestnut picking over the Easter weekend which was painful - they are spikey! There looks like quite a few chestnut orchards are out that way but not quite sure the best way to use them yet.

It is getting cold - they have forcast snow this weekend down to 1200 so our cabin will get snow, but we are becoming a bit busy in town to go out for a couple of weekends. We need to do a bit of work on the Rayburn before we can get it up and running for heating/cooking. I am trying to find cookbooks about cooking on a wood range, and they are mostly American. I have got one from the UK from AGA which has the delightful dish of baked avocado which sounds quite horrid! They are all trying to be modern and fancy when I just want basic home cooking.

It will have to be trial and error when it eventually gets up and running.

This is a visitor to our patch but we haven't seen him for a while, though we did see the two huge eagles on a kangaroo carcass on the way out again.
